Through interviews with settlement workers and newcomers, three overarching themes were extracted, and divided into several sub-themes. Beginning with the diversity of workers and the positive work environment in the Multicultural and Immigration Integration Services division (MIIS), students in LINC classes show they have thorough knowledge about not only Canada and important, relevant topics to share with students, they also have multicultural exposure and knowledge. They’re also familiar with common struggles that newcomers face when settling into a new country, culture, and institutional system.
