The Newman Western Canadian Cookbook Collection is named for the family of Dr. Lenore Newman, UFV's Canada Research Chair in Food Security and the Environment and the driving force behind the establishment of the collection in the Fall of 2014. The Collection consists of over 2000 titles and is held in the UFV Library's Special Collections; however, over 370 items have been digitized (as copyright permits) and added to HarvestIR. The goal is to build a solid research collection of culinary titles that will be a resource for scholars examining food ways and preferences, agricultural practices, gender roles and material culture, to name just a few. Geographically, the collection covers culinary titles from the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
