This article discusses the reported decision of Gurdit Singh and the passengers of the Komagata Maru to give up attempting to enter Canada and return with the ship. The case heard in the Victoria Supreme Court resulted in the court upholding the decision of the immigration board to deny entry on various grounds, including the relevant orders-in-council. The decision not to wait for all individual hearings to be completed and to continue appealing the rulings on an individual basis is reported to be a result of quickly dwindling funds on board and on shore and increasingly worsening conditions aboard ship.
