Abby campus —$105 Women’s basketball team ranked second in Canada Being undefeated in league play has its benefits and glories, and a special one came the way of the UCFV Cascades women’s basketball team last week. They were ranked number two in the national collegiate rankings, behind a team from Quebec. The women have been blowing away most of their opponents this season by margins as high as 59 points. The closest any team has come is 14 points. UCFV athletic coordinator Jane Antil says good coaching, and having six returning players (including four starters) and a strong bench are the keys to the team’s success. She sees, another trip to the nationals, where they placed second last year, as a strong possibility. The men’s team is fighting for a playoff spot in a tough league, and is tied for fourth with Capilano at, whom they defeated 70-63 this weekend. Antil says the men’s strength is their “big men”, particularly Chris Spence. Romeo (Larry Hamm) and Juliet (Tina Molnar) experience post-honeymoon blahs in UCFV Theatre’s Goodnight Desdemona, (Good Morning Juliet), which plays Wed.-Sat. The semi-serious spoof of Shakespeare is a real physical and mental workout for the actors, and lots of fun for the audience. ee elataecess
