TOLL HOUSE COOKIES

1 cup shortening (part butter) + cups flour

cup brown sugar 1 tsp. salt

cup white sugar 1 cup nuts, chopped
2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda in 1 tsp. warm water 1 pkg. semisweet

chocolate chips

Cream butter, add sugar gradually and cream well together
add beaten eggs and blend. Add soda water then sifted flour
and salt. Add chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Drop by
teaspoon on slightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375
degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Yield 100 cookies,

NUGGETS

1 cup butter + cup hot water

14 cup brown sugar 34 cup flour

2 eggs 1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. maple flavoring 1 cup chopped walnuts

2 cups chopped dates

Dissolve soda in hot water and pour over chopped dates.
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and beat. Add flavoring,
date mixture, flour and baking powder and nuts. Drop by
teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheet. Bake in 350 oven.
