First Pictures of Hindus Aboard the
“Komagata Maru”

This is a splendid photograph taken especially for The Province of the
Hindus aboard the Japanese tramp steamer which has just arrived in the
harbor. As many as could be conveniently ranged on the deck stood in front of
the camera. The grey-bearded man on the left forefront of the picture is
Gurdit Singh, leader of the Hindus’ excursion party. Beside him stands his son.
