RAISIN CHEWY BARS tsp. grated orange rind cup sifted all-purpose flour 1 cup brown sugar (packed) tsp. salt % cup melted shortening tsp. baking powder Rinse and drain raisins. Beat egg lightly and stir in sugar, cooled shortening and rind. Sift flour, salt and baking powder and blend into first mixture. Stir in the raisins. Spread in greased 8” square pan. Bake in moderate oven 350° for about 30 minutes. Cool in pan. Cut into bars or squares. If preferred, boil a brown sugar icing and cover before cutting bars.
