Bake at 375 degrees F. for about 45 min- utes. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream or lemon topping. —Mattie Blair Sour Cream Cake. Put two squares chocolate in 14 cup hot water, boil until thick 3 to 5 minutes. Put one cup thick sour cream in bowl. Add 1% cups sugar, a little salt. Add chocolate to cream and sugar when cool. Beat in three eggs one at a time with electric mixer. Add two level cups of sifted cake flour and one tsp. soda, vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees F. 35 or 40 minutes. This cake always turns out well. Beat real wel: three minutes or so. —Mrs. Fred Burton Crumb Cake 2 cups flour 34, cup shortening 1 cup brown sugar Combine flour, shortening and brown sugar. Rub smooth with fingers. Take out 34, cup of mixture for top of cake. To the remainder, add: 4 tsp. salt 4 tsp. nutmeg 4 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 egg 1 cup raisins 1 cup sour milk 1 tsp. soda Add spices, then dissolve soda in sour milk. Add egg and milk to mixture and stir. Add raisins. Sprinkle top with reserved crumbs. Mix well and pour in 8- x 12-inch pan. Bake 45 minutes in moderate oven. —Martha Hunter ~ 3
