Sheridan and Allen named associate deans The University College of the Fraser Valley has hired two new associate deans to help with the implementation -- of degree programs and with the general increase in administrative work caused by the growth of the institution. Both deans were drawn from the faculty ranks for an 18 month term. David Allen has been named Associate Dean, Academic Studies, and Casey Sheridan has been named Associate Dean, Career/Technical Programs. Allen will leave his position as an English instructor and department head. Sheridan will vacate his role as program head of the Business Administration program. Both Allen and Sheridan have played prominent roles in the development of UCFV’s first degree programs, which will begin in September 1992. Allen chaired the Arts degree subcommittee this fall, while Sheridan headed the Business Administration degree subcommittee. In assisting Dean of Academic Studies Don Tunstall, Allen will help prepare a three year plan for the division including curriculum development, facilities planning, and faculty and staff recruitment. In assisting Dean of Career Programs Dick Bate, Sheridan will also help with recruitment, as well as with development of specific new programs. Sheridan recently served a two year term as Dean of Educational Support Services for two years while the current dean, Erling Close, was on a leave of absence. Both associate deans will be part of the senior management team. They will maintain their current status within the Faculty and Staff Association throughout their 18 month appointments. Allen, who lives in the Chilliwack area, will be based at the Chilliwack campus. Sheridan, who makes his home in Abbotsford, will be based at the Abbotsford campus.
