« § « 1. Barbegued Beef 2 or 3 lb. pot roast 3 T. margerine drippings 1 C. catsup 1 medium onion, chopped 1 T. vinegar | salt & pepper to taste 2 T. brown sugar * C. water 2 T. Worchestershire sauce Sauce: 1 t. each chili powder & 1 onion finely chopped dry mustard Brown meat and onion in hot drippings. Add salt and pepper and water. Cover and simmer over low heat 1% hours, adding more water if necessary. To make sauce: cook onion in margerine for 5 minutes, add catsup, vinegar, sugar, worchestershire sauce, chili powder and dry mustard. Simmer 10 minutes. Pour-over - meat and simmer about 15 minutes. May be served on hamburger buns. chee 2. Budget Casserole 2 T. shortening 1 C. sour cream 2 1b. stewing beef 1% C. milk 2 large onions, sliced 1 t. salt 1 C. water * t. pepper 2 large potatoes, sliced 1 C. grated cheddar cheese l can cr. mushroom soup 14 C. wheaties cereal Cook and stir meat and onion in shortening until meat is brown and onion tender. Add water and simmer 50 minutes. Heat oven to 350°F. Pour meat mixture into ungreased baking dish. Arrange potato slices on meat. Stir together soup, sour cream, milk, salt and pepper. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and crushed wheaties. Bake uncovered 1% hours or until potatoes and meat are tender.
