Men’s Cascades tops in summer league FVC’s men’s soccer Cascades earned another championship this summer to go along with their 1990 B.C. College Athletics Association league title. The Cascades scored a penalty shots victory over Sumas Brickmen to win the Fraser Valley summer league championship. The Cascades earned a playoff berth by finishing first in their division and second overall in the summer league, with an 8-1-1 win-loss-tie record. A first round win over the Celtics and a penalty kicks victory over Clearbrook Video advanced the Cascades to the final against the Brickmen. The intense game was tied 3-3 after overtime and so penalty kicks decided the winner once again. At the beginning of the seventh round of shots with no misses, Cascades’ Aaron Williams beat Brickmen keeper Myron Douglas with a confident drive low to the keeper’s left. Cascade keeper David Jones stopped Brickmen’s Dean Janzen and the Cascades poured on to the field to mob their burly shot-stopper. Theft on campus Watch your wallets and purses!
