In conversation with many farmers, I find that the sarererey | {Dove experience does not seem to be an isolated one. Is it any wonder that the average farmer cannot meet his liabilities? My suggestion would be that the farmers get together and put in their own stores in every town and Village and if necessary carry them to the city in an endeavor to stabilize the price of meats of every kind. 1 would like to hear other views on this ques- tion, in my opinion, the sooner action is taken, the sooner the consumer and the farmer will get a square deal. Adopt the less expensive method, wh. is also cleaner, Here is what 1 saw when interviewing several of the farmers across the line, in Wash- \Jington, Near your barn-door prepare a fairly even space of ground with a slight elevation along the centre where you ure to build your pile of beet tops, and I would recommend a layer of gravel a few inches deep laid under and all around the ensil- age to the barn door. so as to avoid mud or dirt mixing with the ensilage in feeding. Make sure there is no danger of seepage from any side, then figure out the quantity of en- silage you intend to put up, and ord- er your lumber accordingly. ay your 2x4 flat on the ground studding with two-by-four, set 2 feet apart. Then cut the height you want for the box—6 or 8 feet long or whatever you consider convenient to pitch in and out the leaves, The sid- ing should be 1x6 shiplap, clean and fairly seasoned, nailed as close as you conveniently can, Put the beet tops in the box in lay- ers of from 6 to 8 inches, then straw or hay in alternative layers of 3 or 4 inches, and continue in this manner until the box is full, Then cover with « layer of old sacks, vermin damaged will do.
