Household Hints 1. To keep mint green when making mint sauce, sprinkle with white sugar and vinegar while chopping.—Mrs. R. Noble. 2. When making dressing for poultry, add 1 teaspoon of baking powder to dry ingredients.—Mrs. H. Waples. 3. When starching clothes put one or more tablespoons of salt in starch, depending on how much starch you make. This will prevent iron from sticking to clothes. 4. To clean out bread box so it will not smeil or bread won’t mould, put one teaspoon of vinegar in one cup of water. 5. When iodine is spilt on cloth, rub with hot potato and wash as usual. 6. To prevent milk from scorching, boil a little water in pan before putting milk in. 7. To remove rust stains, rub well with a mixture of salt and cream of tartar and dry before washing. 8. To remove chewing gum from anything, use the white of an egg well beaten.—Mrs. W. Paquet. 9. To Make a Hand Lotion: Obtain from drug store 1 oz. alcohol, 2 oz. glycerine, 2 oz. cologne, 1% oz. rose water and % oz. gumhragacanth. Mix the gumhagracanth with the other mixture and place in quart sealer. Fill sealer 34 full and shake well. Leave sit for 1 day, shaking at inter- vals. Makes 34 quart of hand lotion or slightly more if more water is added.—Miss Carol Nylin, Elkhorn, Man. 10. To Make Egg Preservative: 1 pint salt, 2 pints lime, 3 gals. water.
