Add sugar then melted butter and flour, baking powder and cocoa. Fold in beaten whites and walnuts. Bake 350° 20-30 minutes. Ice while hot. CHOCOLATE CAKE (CHEAP) 1/3 cup shortening 1 cup sugar (white) 1 egg 2 squares chocolate 1 1/3 cup cake flour 1 tsp. baking powder VY tsp. salt 1 tsp. soda 1 cup boiling water 1 tsp. vanilla Cream shortening, add sugar and cream thoroughly. Add egg and vanilla and beat well. Melt chocolate over hot water and stir into egg mixture. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and soda, and add to first mixture, alternating with boiling water, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
