Meal Planning The diet to be properly balanced must contain Protein, Carbohydrate and Fat, and the minerals, vitamins and some roughage. Protein foods are the following: Meat - Eggs - Cheese - Milk There should be at least one of the above included in every meal taken during the day. Carbohydrate foods: Sugar - Vegetables - Honey - Syrup - Cereals - Milk - Candy There should be at least two of the above at each meal. Fat foods: Butter - Bacon Fat - Eggs - Milk - Cream - Cheese - Meat There must be one of the above at each meal. Minerals are found in all meats, eggs, vegetables of a high color— beets, carrots, spinach, asparagus, etc. Vitamins are found in all natural food products but not to such a beneficial extent in the refined foods, e.g., white flour, polished rice, bleached asparagus and white foods. Roughage is supplied by the coarse grains, vegetables and milk. Fruit juices should be included in all daily menus at least for two meals or twice between meals. One pint of milk for an adult and one quart for a child per day is the minimum requirement for sufficient calcium and other minerals.
