Try these - COFFEE COOKIES Yield: 3 dozen Temp: 375° Time: 10-12 mins. 3/4 cup shortening 2 cups sifted all purpose flour 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 cup molasses 1/4 tsp. soda 1/4 cup water 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 tsp. instant coffee 1/4 tsp. ginger Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, add mollasses and water. Sift to- gether and add all the dry ingredients. Roll out 1/4" thick and cut with cookie cutter. This dough may also be thoroughly chilled and sliced as in refrigerator cookies. Bake on greased cookie sheet. * * K K K K K K K K K K K K K - Dainty half-moons for the cookie plate - can be used as sweet tart shells also CREAM CHEESE COOKIES Yield: Approx. 4 dozen Temp: 350° Time: 10-12 mins. 1/2 cup shortening 1/4 tsp. lemon flavouring 1 4-0z. pkg. cream cheese 1 3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. salt Cream shortening, add cream cheese and blend well. Combine sugar with creamed mixture and beat until light, add flavouring, then sifted dry in- gredients. Chill dough thoroughly. Roll out on floured board, Cut into circles.
