Mincemeat Jumbles - So moist and tender 3.1/2 c. sifted flour I c. shortening I tsp. soda 2 c. brown sugar I tsp. salt 2 eggs 1/2 tsp. instant coffee Ic. mincemeat Sift together flour, soda, salt, and coffee. Cream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs, mincemeat, and flour mixture. Drop by teaspoon 2" apart onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400° for 12 minutes. Makes 6 dozen. Pecan Drops = Chock full of pecans 1/2 c, butter 21/2 c. sifted cake flour 1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. shortening 2 tsp. vanilla Ic. icing sugar I c. pecans, chopped coarsely Cream butter, shortening, and sugar until smooth. Stir in flour, | vanilla and pecans. Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 325° for 15-20 mins. Makes 5 dozen. Chocolate Drops - Children love them 11/2 c. sifted flour 2 sq. melted unsweetened 1/4 tsp. soda chocolate 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. baking powder I] egg 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. milk 1c. brown sugar 1/4 c. chopped walnuts Sift together flour, soda, salt, and baking powder. Cream shortening and sugar. Add melted chocolate and vanilla, then >egg. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add nuts and drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes. Makes 4 1/2 dozen. Chill drop cookie dough before baking to prevent spreading and flattening. To keep cookies soft, place a slice of apple or a damp sponge in the container.
