Bake 35 minutes at 350 degrees F. Ice while hot. Icing: 2 tbsp. butter ' tsp. vanilla 1 cup icing sugar Pinch of salt 1 square melted chocolate Cream butter, add 14 cup icing sugar. Add unbeaten egg white, melt- ed chocolate, remainder of icing sugar and vanilla. —Mrs. Pearl Perry Date Loaf 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup boiling water 1 egg 1 tsp. soda sprinkled over dates 2 tbsp. butter and boiling water 1 cup chopped nuts 2 cups flour 1 cup dates 1 scant tsp. baking soda Chop dates and pour boiling water over them. Watmough Boiled Raisin Cake 1 cup white sugar 4 cup butter or margarine 2 eggs 4 tsp. salt 2 cups flour 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. each cinnamon, nutmeg, 2 cups raisins cloves and allspice 2 cups water Add raisins to water, boil for 20 minutes or until one cup liquid remains. Drain and reserve liquid. Cool. Cream butter, add sugar and eggs. Sift dry ingredients together. Add alternately to first mixture with reserved liquid. Add raisins.
