THE DAILY PROVINCE FEBRUARY 15, 1908 p. 1 HINDUS GO BACK TO DEAR OLD SUVA ------------------Six Hindus who arrived at Vancouver yesterday afternoon on board the Canadian-Australian liner Aorangi will be deported to Suva. As they did not come direct to Canada from the land of their birth or citizenship Dr. Monro, Dominion Immigration Officer, refused to allow them to land. The Hindus, who were confined in the detention shed all night, will be deported to Suva, at which port they took passage for Vancouver. The Japanese woman and baby coming by the Aorangi will be permitted to land under the Dominion laws upon the immigration officials being satisfied that she is coming to join her husband. She is still held pending the guarantee of the Japanese consul that her statement is bona fide. As soon as this is settled she will be admitted.
